Was your first boss an abundance leader or a scarcity leader?

  1. At first, an abundance. Sadly, he haas become so scarce it is has given me pause for concern. While I am able to function in my role, my issue is more of a professional advancement one. We have discussed projects where I can showcase my talents to higher level internal partners, yet nothing has transpired. When I approach him regarding the issue, I ofte get nothing more than idle chatter. At our least meeting, I came prepared with a timeline of objectives, which we both agreed upon. I finished my duties, however he has yet to reciprocate with any of the agreed upon tasks with which he was charged. I now feel professionally stagnant. I am very vocal and proactive, so I have "gone around and above him", tactfully mind you, to contact people internally to express my interest in other projects. That was met with scorn from his end, as he viewed as a power move. Frankly, it was, and I expected his response and am prepared to discuss the issues when we meet for my review.

Sadly, this is becoming the norm in our company - select few are given opportunity while others are merely assigned "tasks" in hopes it quiets the masses.
